On October 14th, 2021 we celebrate ten years since the opening of the entire 152 kilometers of AmberOne A1 Motorway. On this occasion we remember and summarize some important facts and interesting issues regarding of what have taken place on our motorway in the last decade.
Since the opening almost 200 million vehicles have passed the AmberOne Motorway. At the beginning 12-13 million vehicles per year passed the Motorway whereas in the current years it is 20 million per year.
TRIVIA
- Over the ten years of the motorway’s operation, more than 195 million vehicles have used it.
- The year 2018 was characterized by the highest traffic: as many as 21,012,969 vehicles
- The largest daily traffic took place on August 12, 2017 and amounted to 101,000 vehicles.
- In the early years, heavy goods vehicles accounted for 11%, and now their share of traffic has increased to 22%.
- 10 years ago, 73% of transactions are cash transactions, currently the dominant form is non-cash payments, which reach as much as 72%
Changes are also visible at toll plazas. 10 years ago, PPO Rusocin had 8 exit gates and 5 entry gates, and PPO Nowa Wieś had 6 exit lanes and 3 entrances.
After ten years, PPO Rusocin has 10 exit gates and 5 entry gates, which thanks to the reversible gates can be increased up to 7 entrance gates. PPO Nowa Wieś has 8 exit and 4 entry gates, which thanks to the reversible gates can be increased up to 6 entry gates, and soon there will even be 10 exit gates!
We also strive to minimize the impact of our infrastructure on the environment. To this end, we successively undertake pro-ecological activities. At MOP Kleszczewko a few years ago we installed solar collectors. Last year at MOP Olsze we started segregating garbage and installed special containers for our travelers. From 2020, we are also gradually replacing highway lighting with LED, more environmentally friendly. In the spring of 2021, we sowed the first motorway meadow and the next hectares will be sown in the following years. Flower meadows have a chance to replace some of the green areas currently sown with grass.
AmberOne A1 Motorway does not cease in its efforts to increase safety on Polish roads, from the beginning of its activity focusing primarily on educational and preventive activities. Behind us are many editions of the award-winning campaign “Safety, my middle name”, which concerned m.in speed, first aid, correct fastening of seat belts, rules of stopping during a breakdown on the motorway, or our this year’s action “Count to zero” focusing on 4 safety rules whose non-compliance is the most common cause of accidents : speed, fatigue, dangerously short distance between vehicles or distraction of electronic devices.
The icing on the cake among the campaigns is #SzanyjmySię, dedicated to professional drivers, which reminds not only about the principles of safe movement on the roads. Its main emphasis is placed on the aspect of personal motivation of each of the drivers who make a choice every day on the roads: to do right or wrong.
