AmberGreen – green initiative of AmberOne Motorway

Second edition of AmberGreen programe is on. As part of the AmberGreen program, greenery  planting projects will be selected in the municipalities through which the AmberOne A1 Motorway runs.

AmberGreen aims to invest in green solutions that will contribute to tackling climate change. The expected effect of our actions will be to reduce the environmental impact of our project.

Plantings consisting of deciduous trees and shrubs are preferred in projects that can apply for funding, as the project aims to compensate for CO2 emitted by motorway users and create rest and relaxation areas for residents. In addition, projects including the creation of flowery meadows and places friendly to bees and other pollinators will be scored.

The beneficiaries of the grant may be local authorities and offices which are established in the municipality on whose territory the project is to be carried out, notified under the grant.

Applications must be submitted by  7 March 2022.

All information concerning funding can be found on  www.a1.com.pl under CSR/COMPETITION TAB – AmberGreen.

We invite you to submit applications for funding.

There are already 6 petrol stations on the AmberOne A1 Motorway.

At the end of December, Orlen petrol stations were opened at MOP Kleszczewko east and MOP Kleszczewko west, thus the number of petrol stations on our motorway increased to six.

Other petrol stations are located on MOP Olsze (east and west), the operator of these stations is Shell and on MOP Malankowo (east and west), where the operator is Lotos.

Both MOP Olsze and MOP Malankowo have chargers for electric vehicles.

Merry Christmas

Results of the competition for the Motorway Christmas card

This year, due to the prevailing pandemic, unfortunately, we could not organize a meeting with the participants of the competition for the Motorway Christmas card. Despite this, all the children who sent us the works received gift packages as a thank you. In total, 51 works took part in the competition.

The drawings from which we had to choose our motorway card this year were full of creative ideas containing elements related to ecology and safety, i.e. the main themes of this year’s competition. This meant that, as every year, we faced a difficult choice.

Below we present the winners of this year’s competition:

AmberOne A1 Motorway 10 years

On October 14th, 2021 we celebrate ten years since the opening of the entire 152 kilometers of AmberOne A1 Motorway. On this occasion we remember and  summarize some important facts and interesting issues regarding of what have taken place on  our motorway in the last decade.

Since the opening almost 200 million vehicles have passed the AmberOne Motorway. At the beginning 12-13 million vehicles per year passed the Motorway whereas in the current years it is 20 million per year.

TRIVIA

  • Over the ten years of the motorway’s operation, more than 195 million vehicles have used it.
  • The year 2018 was characterized by the highest traffic: as many as 21,012,969 vehicles
  • The largest daily traffic took place on August 12, 2017 and amounted to 101,000 vehicles.
  • In the early years, heavy goods vehicles accounted for 11%, and now their share of traffic has increased to 22%.
  • 10 years ago, 73% of transactions are cash transactions, currently the dominant form is non-cash payments, which reach as much as 72%

Changes are also visible at toll plazas. 10 years ago, PPO Rusocin had 8 exit gates and 5 entry gates, and PPO Nowa Wieś had 6 exit lanes and 3 entrances.

After ten years, PPO Rusocin has 10 exit gates and 5 entry gates, which thanks to the reversible gates can be increased up to 7 entrance gates. PPO Nowa Wieś has 8 exit and 4 entry gates, which thanks to the reversible gates can be increased up to 6 entry gates, and soon there will even be 10 exit gates!

We also strive to minimize the impact of our infrastructure on the environment. To  this end, we successively undertake pro-ecological activities. At MOP Kleszczewko a few years ago we installed  solar collectors. Last year at MOP Olsze we started  segregating  garbage and installed special containers for our travelers. From 2020, we are also gradually replacing highway lighting with LED, more environmentally  friendly. In the spring of 2021, we    sowed the  first  motorway meadow and  the next hectares will be sown in the following years. Flower meadows have a chance to replace some of the green areas currently sown with grass.

AmberOne A1 Motorway does not cease in its efforts to increase safety on Polish roads, from the beginning of its activity focusing primarily on educational and preventive activities. Behind us are many editions of the award-winning campaign “Safety,  my  middle  name”, which concerned m.in speed, first aid, correct fastening of seat belts, rules of stopping during a breakdown on the motorway, or our this year’s action  “Count to zero” focusing on 4 safety rules whose non-compliance is the most common cause of accidents : speed, fatigue,  dangerously short  distance between  vehicles or distraction of electronic devices.

The icing on the cake among  the campaigns is  #SzanyjmySię,  dedicated to professional drivers, which reminds  not only about the principles of safe movement on the roads. Its main emphasis is placed on the aspect of personal motivation of each of the drivers who make a choice every day on the roads: to do right or wrong.

Road Safety Days 2021

On September 21 this year,  an action called Road Safety Days will be carried out in all European countries. As part of the action, both control and educational activities will be carried out.   AmberOne  A1 Motorway joins this year’s activities.

Police officers from the Road Traffic Department of the Voivodeship Police Headquarters in Gdańsk and Toruń, in cooperation with the Voivodeship Road Transport Inspectorate from Gdańsk and Toruń, will also carry out control activities on AmberOne Motorway on that day. Control activities will take place m.in at the Rusocin, Kopytkowo and Swarożyn junctions and MOP Nowa Wieś.

Aditionally on September 21st at MOP Olsze direction Łódź will be our educational installation “Count to zero, i.e. zero fatal accidents on the motorway”. The installation  allows you to train with four safety rules. We invite you to test yourself on the reflexometer, in parking goggles, on the simulator of distraction and catching the distance.
